Subject: FYI: Proposal for new bootloader/initramfs handling in Debian
Date: Mon, 5 Dec 2022 02:55:06 +0000 [thread overview]

Hi,
I just want to let you know that there is currently a discussion on the
debian kernel ML about the bootloader and initramfs integration.
This is quite relevant for ISAR as well, as the proposal tailors the
process more like it is done in ISAR (and simplifies many things).
By that, also debian kernel updates in ISAR could be better/easier
supported.
RFC: bootloader/initramfs protocol v2
https://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2022/11/msg00012.html
It's quite in an early state, but now would be the time to get
involved.
PS: the machine id is also involved again, so we should make sure this
proposal also works on first-boots.
Best regards,
Felix
