Thanks Florian for pinging, the reason is the same as for some other recent patches -- the patch touches a corner case which is easily broken during trivial actions like kernel upgrade, so we wanted to check whether it's possible to have a meaningful testcase for this but haven't really come to it. I wouldn't like to delay this anymore, so this has now been merged. Please let me know if you would like to work on a testcase.
