First, this is just a bunch of smaller alignments of OE lib code we
adopted. The more interesting change is The Final Fix (tm) of the
patching approach - by using OE's class.

This series depends on the earlier sent linux-custom report, namely the
old kernel build breaks with the new patching approach.

From: Ioan-Adrian Ratiu <adrian.ratiu@ni.com>

Before GNU tar 1.24, only the archive creation command had the '-h'
argument to preserve and follow symlinks. After >= 1.24 via commit
14efeb9f956e38d7be (tar: --dereference consistency) the capability to
preserve symlinks was also added to the archive extraction command.

-h is default at archive creation but is not default at extraction,
meaning that it will replace symlinks with directories even if the
original filesystem directory tree and archive contains them.

Add -h to the copyhardlinktree extraction step so the build can
support symlinks in variables like ${DEPLOY_DIR_IPK/RPM/DEB}.

This imports the changes of the OE-core commit
055402e5504f041c346571e243c7cf0894955cad
("sstate/lib.oe.path: Ensure file sparseness is preserved")

Other changes to this file just add functionality that we do not use.

[Bugzilla Bug 13201] -- https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13201

Newer versions of gnome-terminal (3.32.0 and up) are not starting
as expected for commands e.g. "bitbake -c devshell zlib". This
manifests as the instance appearing as a new tab rather than a
new window. Fix this (and maintain new window preferred behavior)
by changing the "-x" option to "--" as per the warning message,
avoiding deprecated options:

    # Option “--command” is deprecated and might be removed in a later version of gnome-terminal.
    # Use “-- ” to terminate the options and put the command line to execute after it.

Yes, it was a bad idea to try an own, "simpler" solution. Even the
current iteration still fails to replay patches in case unpack re-ran
from a tarball. In that case, the applied_patches folder was not purged
as I assumed (and as it works for git repos e.g.).

So, let's give up and simply import the OE-core implementation. It only
requires some minor tweaks to adjust to the Isar environment. For that,
we just need to drop PATCHDEPENDENCY, adjust QUILTRCFILE and
PATCH_GIT_USER_* and expand the python module search path.

This now makes quilt another dependency for the build environment. kas
1.1 or newer provides it already.

Applying: patch: Replace custom implementation with OE-core solution
.git/rebase-apply/patch:478: trailing whitespace.

.git/rebase-apply/patch:1167: new blank line at EOF.
+
warning: 2 lines add whitespace errors.

Will have a look at the other patches. If there is nothing else, I could fix
this one in my branch.

With kind regards,
Baurzhan.

Might be upstream imported. Then we should not deviate. If not, I'll
send v2.

Applied to next with the oe-core commit id added in patch 6/6.

Regarding the trailing new line, it comes indeed from oe-core.

With kind regards,
