I'm running jailhouse-dev on googlegroups openly for more than 6 years. 
The amount of distributed spam is really low, most of those mails get 
filtered by google already.

For Jailhouse, it is essential to have an open list because we have 
threads from time to time that are cross-posted to LKML or other 
communities. For Isar, I can imagine this to happen with oe/yocto lists, 
but there may also be other cases.
